Philippines SRRV / Eligibility and costs
Find the category before moving the deposit.
The Special Resident Retiree’s Visa has different categories and age bands. Your service record, age, income evidence and household determine which questions need answering. A familiar military document or a balance in a bank account is not the whole eligibility test.

Classic and Courtesy answer different questions.
PRA’s published starting age is 40. Classic has pensioner and non-pensioner deposit levels. The published pensioner income requirement is a lifetime pension of at least $800 monthly for a single applicant or $1,000 with dependents. The evidence and the applicable deposit should be reviewed together.
Courtesy is a special-category route. PRA includes retired diplomats, specified international-organization officers, qualifying retired military personnel and high achievers. Former Filipinos have a separate Courtesy category. These categories are not interchangeable, and a low deposit is not an independent path into the programme.
For veterans, ask the precise question.
The official Expanded SRRV document describes retired military personnel who provided military aid and training under a defence treaty or similar agreement. The overview uses broader language about recognized bilateral relations. Neither is a reason to assume that every US veteran qualifies from a DD-214 alone. We identify the service history and ask PRA to resolve a material uncertainty before treating the category as established.
Gather the DD-214 or relevant service record, retirement documentation where applicable, and current benefit or pension evidence. A benefit letter should make its amount, recipient and nature clear. VA disability compensation, retired pay and a future entitlement are different records; acceptance for a particular SRRV category must be confirmed against the actual file.
For applicants aged 40 to 49, the official expanded checklist separately asks for at least $1,000 per month of pension or similar benefits, while its deposit table also prints a non-pensioner Courtesy amount. That combination needs pre-evaluation. We do not resolve it by quietly dropping a requirement or promising the cheapest row.

| Category | Age 40 to 49 | Age 50+ | Condition to resolve |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic, pensioner | $25,000 | $15,000 | $800/month single; $1,000/month with dependents. |
| Classic, non-pensioner | $50,000 | $30,000 | Use the non-pensioner deposit where the pensioner requirements are not met. |
| Courtesy, foreign national | $3,000 pensioner / $6,000 non-pensioner | $1,500 | Special-category eligibility first. PRA’s checklist separately requests $1,000/month pension or similar benefits for ages 40 to 49; obtain pre-evaluation of the applicable track. |
| Courtesy, former Filipino | $3,000 | $1,500 | Separate category for eligible former Filipino citizens; document the citizenship history. |
A deposit figure does not confirm eligibility. The amount and remittance instructions must be confirmed for the applicant and household before money moves.
Keep fees outside the deposit column.
The annual fee is payable on joining and each year while the retiree holds the SRRV. Document preparation, translations, apostilles, clearances, medical work, travel and professional assistance are separate budget items. A government processing charge and a refundable or restricted deposit should never be presented as the same kind of cost.
Our professional scope is quoted after the strategy session. The proposal distinguishes coordination, any local filing assistance and optional ongoing support. It also identifies third-party charges and the points at which a cost becomes committed.

| Item | Published amount | How to treat it |
|---|---|---|
| Principal processing fee | $1,500 | Government fee; non-refundable if the application is discontinued. |
| Joining dependent application | $300 each | Separate from the visa deposit and annual fee. |
| Classic annual PRA fee | $360 | Principal plus two dependents; $100 for each additional dependent. |
| Courtesy annual fee: foreign national | $100 | Principal plus two dependents; $10 for each additional dependent. |
| Courtesy annual fee: former Filipino | $50 | Principal plus two dependents; $10 for each additional dependent. |
| Additional dependent deposit | $15,000 each beyond two | PRA’s overview states an exception for former Filipinos; confirm the household calculation. |
Count the household before choosing a row.
PRA’s published dependent categories are the legally married spouse and unmarried legitimate or legally adopted children below 21 at application. The dependent file has its own passport, forms, medical and clearance requirements, relationship evidence and photographs. Age, timing and the relationship documents matter as much as the number of people.
Dependents can join the initial filing or be added after the principal is approved, subject to the applicable requirements. Plan the order deliberately. A child approaching an age threshold, a spouse travelling later or inconsistent names across civil records needs attention before the travel plan is fixed.
A visa deposit is not a payment to the coordinator.
PRA directs the required deposit to an accredited bank by inward remittance. Its private-bank process includes a PRA Letter of Introduction. Confirm the bank, branch, account instructions, applicant name and required purpose information directly through the official process. Keep the remittance receipt and bank certification in the application file.
The deposit remains subject to programme rules. Do not describe it as cash you can freely spend after approval, or assume an investment conversion or withdrawal is automatic. If you intend to use a permitted investment option, or later cancel, obtain the current procedure before committing the funds.
Before you decide
Common questions.
Does VA disability automatically qualify me?
No automatic conclusion is published here. The service category and the precise income evidence must be assessed together. We can prepare the question and supporting file for PRA pre-evaluation.
Is the SRRV citizenship?
No. It is a Philippine retirement-residence visa. It does not issue a Philippine passport or settle citizenship eligibility.
Must I pay an agent?
PRA states that applicants may use an accredited marketer or apply themselves. Assistance pays for defined preparation and coordination, not privileged access to an approval.
