Philippines SRRV / The application file
Prepare the file before booking the filing trip.
The useful document checklist has four columns: what is needed, who issues it, when it expires and who verifies it. That turns a pile of records into an application plan. Begin with the category and household; then work backward from the intended submission date.

| Document or step | Published requirement or purpose | Planning point |
|---|---|---|
| Passport and entry status | Original passport and convertible tourist status, with at least 30 days of validity for processing. | Check the actual visa notation. Extend lawful status if processing runs past its validity. |
| PRA application | Completed application with the applicant’s original signature. | Use consistent names and explain any difference across records. |
| PRA medical form and results | Issued within six months; the official form can be completed in the Philippines or abroad. | An overseas medical document requires the relevant authentication and language treatment. |
| Police/criminal clearance | Country of origin or last residence abroad; generally within six months. | Required for principal, spouse and dependents aged 18 or over. Plan authentication time. |
| BICC and, where triggered, NBI clearance | BI clearance; the expanded checklist uses 90 days or more in the Philippines for the NBI trigger. | The overview says more than 90 days. Use the stricter planning threshold and confirm with PRA. |
| Photographs | Eight recent 2×2-inch photographs, white background, within three months. | Follow the current technical instructions rather than recycling old visa photos. |
| Category and income evidence | Military/service, pension, former-citizenship or other category evidence. | Resolve disputed eligibility before remittance or travel commitments. |
| Family relationship records | Marriage, birth, adoption or other accepted relationship evidence. | Check names, ages, custody questions and the correct issuing authority. |
| Deposit certification | Bank certificate/proof of inward remittance to the chosen accredited bank. | Keep the transfer trail and allow for the bank’s certification time. |
Sequence authentication around expiry.
PRA requires documents issued abroad to be in English or translated, with apostille or Philippine embassy/consular authentication as applicable. Identify the issuer before ordering the authentication. A federal document, a state civil record and a privately prepared statement do not necessarily follow the same route.
Do not send every request on the same day simply to feel that the process has started. Work backward from the submission window. The medical and police records have limited validity; photographs have a shorter window. If a slow record needs correction, completing the time-sensitive items too early can create another round of expense.
Maintain a document register with the original spelling, issuing office, issue date, authentication status, translation, tracking number and intended recipient. Keep scans for coordination and retain the originals for the actual filing. A scan that looks complete is not evidence that the required original has arrived.
Prepare the bank step as a separate task.
Confirm the exact SRRV option and deposit first. PRA’s published private-bank process requires a Letter of Introduction before opening the deposit account. The selected bank and branch must be within the accredited arrangement; an ordinary account at a familiar bank is not automatically the correct SRRV account.
Use the current official instructions for the remittance purpose and identifying details. Verify them through the bank/PRA channel before transfer. Keep the payment record, any bank correspondence and the certification sent to PRA together. A professional-service invoice is separate from this government-programme deposit.
A sequence with real dependencies.
Pre-evaluate
Confirm category, family composition and unresolved service or pension questions. Obtain the current requirements for the actual file.
Prepare abroad
Collect civil, service, pension and clearance records. Correct inconsistencies, authenticate and translate where needed, and leave room for courier delays.
Arrange funds and arrival
Confirm the accredited-bank process and tourist-entry eligibility. Choose a temporary base that makes the required errands practical.
Complete the local file
Finish local medical or clearance steps, check current entry validity, and reconcile the bank certification with the application checklist.
Submit and remain available
PRA’s expanded document states physical presence throughout the application and a processing period of 30 to 45 working days from complete documents. Plan for questions and extensions; this is not a guaranteed completion date.
Collect and check the result
Verify the visa and PRA identification details, store the records, and calendar the annual fee and future document or family changes.
Keep a delay log, not a hopeful date.
The familiar delay points are inconsistent names, stale clearances, entry validity, a missing original and a deposit sent outside the required process. Track each unresolved item with an owner and the evidence needed to close it. A provider saying “sent” and an authority confirming “received” are different milestones.
Avoid non-refundable onward commitments that assume the shortest advertised processing time. A working-day period excludes weekends and may be affected by holidays, incomplete records and additional requests. The plan should still work if the filing is later than the first target.
Before you decide
Common questions.
Can the entire application be completed from the US?
No. Preparation can begin abroad, but PRA’s expanded programme document requires physical presence in the Philippines throughout the SRRV application process.
Do I always need NBI clearance?
The published trigger depends on time already spent in the Philippines. The expanded checklist says 90 days or more. Record your arrival history and confirm the requirement before filing.
Can I submit my passport through the website contact form?
No. Use the contact form for the situation, without sensitive attachments. The agreed engagement establishes the secure document channel and recipients.
